Lorica to Deploy the Lorica Room Center Converged Managed Network at Landmark Chicago HotelWhitehall Hotel Adds Leading Edge Technology to its Historic Character & CharmBuffalo, New York, June 22, 2009— Mark Holzberg, Chairman & CEO of Lorica Solutions (www.loricasolutions.com), the leader in converged managed networks to the hospitality industry, announced today that the Company has entered into an Agreement to install its Lorica Room Center (LRC) at the downtown Chicago Whitehall Hotel and to provide ongoing network monitoring and guest help desk services. The installation will take place during the summer as part of The Whitehall’s network and technology renovation. The Whitehall is a distinctive 222 room hotel located just off Michigan Avenue. Built in 1928 as a luxury apartment building, the property has an especially rich history. It became a hotel in the 1950’s and was converted to a true world-class luxury property during a renovation and conversion completed in 1974. In fact, at the 1974 re-opening gala Jack Benny provided the entertainment! The Whitehall has undergone a number of renovations, including a $6 million renovation of all guest rooms and hallways in 2007. However, at each turn the property has retained its distinctive ambiance and charm. An intimate European-style boutique hotel, The Whitehall was named one of the eight great small hotels in the US by Fortune Magazine. Lorica Solutions is the developer of the Lorica Room Center, the only fully managed converged network specifically designed for the hospitality industry. The Lorica Room Center acts as a communications hub and monitoring node for all in-room devices, enabling new technologies like HDTV while providing proactive monitoring and support from Lorica’s 24x7 Network Operations Center and Help Desk. “I wanted to offer wireless Internet to our guests, but installing the equipment and delivering a strong signal in a historic building is challenging and expensive”, said Bert Yen, owner of The Whitehall. He went on, “my wiring consultants, Delta Telecomm Company, talked to me about the benefits and cost advantages of Lorica’s converged network and suggested that I talk to them. It turned out the consultants were right -- the Lorica solution greatly reduced my cabling expense while giving the hotel a state-of-the art network that will provide our guests excellent wireless HSIA today and will enable me to add other IP based applications over time. I also like the fact that Lorica will provide remote monitoring of the network and guest help desk services on a 24x7 basis, so that our staff can focus on overall guest satisfaction”. “All of us at Lorica are thrilled to be working with Mr. Yen as he takes this historic property and adds the technology to meet the needs of The Whitehall’s discriminating guests”, said Holzberg. “It’s a privilege to be part of this phase of the property’s evolution”. |
